Guy Crowther comes from a family of generations of renowned respected nurserymen and landscapers. Guy's great grandfather, Tom Blackburn, commercially produced carnations from a glass house production unit in Huddersfield before the First World War. Tom's son Jim, Guy’s grandfather, owned a successful wholesale seed company in the centre of the town.

At  an early age Guy worked at weekends and holidays at Pennine Garden Centre on the Shelley Hillside above Huddersfield, he gained his grounding in the landscape and hardy nursery stock production industry working with Jim’s son, (Guy's uncle),  Bill Blackburn, co founder of J & W Blackburn Ltd trading as Pennine Nurseries.

After spending a season sampling most aspects of hardy nursery stock production activities, in addition to studying at technical college, Brooksby and  Merristwood, Guy spent time “on the tools” at various landscape construction sites before progressing to assistant landscape manager and then on to  the overall running of the company’s landscape division.

In 1988 Guy moved to a major leading multi disciplinary, landscape construction company in Greater Manchester where he successfully ran and managed the landscape interests for nearly two decades before becoming Operations Director of a North West Groundwork Trust where he set up a successful stand alone profitable community interest company for this leading environmental charity.

Following this Guy spent the next five years successfully developing the multi disciplinary principal contractor activities for a leading national forestry and landscape organisation.

During his working career in the Landscape and External works industry, Guy has been instrumental in obtaining BALI industry awards for landscape construction works at a Midlands County Hospital, a Yorkshire Coal fired power station, a Prestigious new business Park in Cheshire and at a North West England Adventure playground.
